For our latest television spot, filmed in the Easton Park Community—part of our sought-after Urban Courtyards Collection in Austin—we wanted to capture the joy of real homeownership. The Liscano family was the perfect fit for sharing what life is really like in a Brookfield Residential home.

Melissa, who has a background as a copywriter, had been on film sets before—but this was the first time her family stepped in front of the camera.

“We have a family saying, ‘Just do it for the plot,’ and this definitely fit that—it just sounded like fun,” Melissa shared. “We were a little nervous, especially with young kids, because you never know how they’ll react. But we had a blast—we wanted to keep going!”

Capturing Real-Life Moments

The creative team wanted to keep the commercial as authentic as possible, building the story around how the Liscanos actually live in their home. Before filming, the production team visited Melissa and Miguel’s home to scout locations and plan meaningful, real-life moments to feature.

“The team was amazing with the kids,” Melissa said. “We talked about how we use different spaces in the house, and they planned breaks around the kids’ nap times. We always make pancakes on weekends, so they made sure to capture that. We often have neighbors over for dinner, which was a great way to show off the dining room. And they loved the kids’ door covered in artwork!”

One of Melissa’s favorite moments made it into the final cut. “The spot shows Hattie pushing Henry on a little car around our kitchen island, and that’s exactly how it is every day. They’re always running around, playing tag, or racing their cars. It’s like their own little racetrack—such a real, authentic moment of how we live in this home.”

A Surprise for Miguel

The two-day shoot ended with a sweet surprise.

“The last scene was the dinner shot, and it happened to be the day before Miguel’s birthday,” Melissa said. “I conspired with the crew, and at the end, they brought out a cake, and we all sang Happy Birthday. Since Miguel had to wear pajamas in one of the scenes—he’s not really a loungewear guy—we had the cake say, ‘You look great in pajamas.’ It was such a fun, thoughtful moment.”

For the Liscanos, being part of the Brookfield Residential commercial was more than just a fun experience—it was a celebration of the home they love.

“It’s such a special memory for our family,” Melissa said. “We’ve lived here for three years without a single issue, and we still have those jaw-dropping moments where we think, ‘I can’t believe this is our home.’ Living in the Easton Park community has been everything we hoped for—it’s beyond what we ever imagined, and we’re so proud of it. We really love it here.”
