It feels as though 2017 has flown by. This is already our last blog post of the year! Looking back, a lot happened at Brookfield Residential during the past 12 months. We opened up several new communities for sale, had new releases at some of our most popular communities, welcomed hundreds of homeowners to our communities, participated in local events and community building, volunteered, gave back, and much more! Here are some of the year’s highlights as we look back at the year in review.

Community Living

Our much-anticipated, one-of-a-kind New Seaton community opened for sale this year. Located in North Pickering, this community will become home to an incredible 70,000 residents and an impressive 3,750 acres of parks, trails, ponds and woodlots, preserving and appreciating the beautiful natural surroundings. It's all here!

We also opened Woodhaven in Aurora, an exclusive community of detached homes on 30’ to 50’ homesites in a unique, stunning location. With the most picturesque setting and mature trees gracing the community, it’s a truly exclusive and incomparable community.

In 2017 we also had exciting new releases at several of our existing communities across Southern Ontario, including Pinehurst (our building debut in Paris, ON) and Treetops (an established, family-friendly community in Alliston, ON), and a new launch at Pathways in Caledon East.

Several of our communities were under construction throughout the year. We made a lot of progress building Timberlane in Aurora, The Arbors Condominiums in Aurora, Willow Glen in Tottenham and Whitby Central in Whitby.

Awards & Recognition

Brookfield was proud and honoured to receive the Cresnet (Canadian Residential Energy Services) award for Lowest HERS Score 2017 in the Production Builder category. This was a great recognition that showcases our ongoing commitment to building The Best Places to Call Home and improving the energy efficiency of our homes.

Community Events & Charity

As usual, we hosted various events and were involved in different ways in our communities across southern Ontario.

The Brookfield team rallied together to participate in many local BILD charity initiatives. We participated in charity volleyball and baseball – raising funds for great causes while having fun and teambuilding.

Our Annual Charity Golf Classic in June of 2017 was a great success. Held at Deer Creek Golf & Banquet Facility in Ajax, it was a fun day out on the course for a great cause: Nova's Ark in Whitby. This is a great local charity that is committed to building acceptance of people of all ages and abilities by providing opportunities for understanding through a wide range of activities and programs involving unique and gentle animals. They have many impressive programs and we’re proud to support them.

We also sponsored Dockside community events at Whitby Harbour in 2017. These included a series of Lakeside Cinema evenings in the summer, a free event complete with large screen movie screenings, food trucks, a beer garden, free popcorn, games, a live DJ and more. In October we sponsored Dockside Fall Fest, and Dockside Winter Fest was on two weekends ago. Follow Dockside in Whitby on Instagram to learn about the next events.

We enjoyed engaging with our online communities, as well. We continue to share updates, events, décor tips and more on the Brookfield Residential Facebook page, our inspirational Pinterest boards, Twitter, YouTube, and on this blog.
