As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Development Group at Brookfield Properties, Alan oversees the management and strategic direction of its residential and mixed-use development businesses in the U.S. and Canada.
Alan joined Carma Developers in 1983 and became Chief Executive Officer in 1994. In 2011, Carma merged with Brookfield Homes to create Brookfield Residential, the flagship North American residential property company of Brookfield Asset Management, and, under his leadership, the company’s asset base grew to over $4.8 billion and the overall employee base to more than 1,400 people. Today the company operates in 16 major North American markets.
Alan is actively involved in the community, having recently chaired the Resolve Fundraising campaign to raise $120 million for affordable housing in Calgary, and is past Chairman of the Calgary Homeless Foundation. In 2018, The Calgary Chamber and SAIT conferred on him an Honorary Bachelor’s Degree for his community work, and he was inducted into the BILD Alberta Hall of Fame for his contributions to the industry. In 2019, Alan was honored as a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) as part of the CPA Alberta’s annual Achievement Awards.
He holds a B.A. degree in accounting and economics and two Chartered Accountant designations, Scotland and Canada.
As President, Adrian is lending his operational expertise and deeply rooted passion for innovation to help manage Brookfield Properties’ development group. Alongside a talented leadership team, he oversees the Land and Housing and Mixed-Use business lines to capitalize on the unique and growing opportunities in the North American market.
Adrian has been an integral part of Brookfield Asset Management’s real estate business since 1996, when he joined (then) Brookfield Homes, eventually leading Brookfield Residential’s California Operations in 2011.
Since, he has held several leadership roles, most recently President of Brookfield Residential – one of the largest land developers and homebuilders in North America and Brookfield Asset Management’s flagship residential property company, where he was directly responsible for stewarding operational objectives and implementing strategic initiatives across North America. In January 2019, Brookfield Residential merged its Land and Housing operation alongside its Mixed-Use platform as one unified development group.
Adrian was born and raised in England, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Greenwich, London.
As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Thomas is responsible for the overall finance function. He joined Brookfield in 2011 and has been active in the company’s financial reporting, treasury, capital and business planning, investor relations, tax, internal audit and compliance functions.
Thomas has his CPA designation and received his Bachelor of Commerce from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.
He is active within the community, currently serving as Chair and Director at the Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta and on the Board of Directors at Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada. He was previously on the Board of Directors at Wellspring Calgary.
Amy Arentowicz is an Executive Vice President with Brookfield Properties’ development group, providing general counsel, strategic advice and legal oversight for its development investments within North America, taking into account the goals and missions of Brookfield Properties.
Prior to joining BPD, Ms. Arentowicz spent 7.5 years with The Related Companies, L.P. as General Counsel of Related Hudson Yards, where her work focused on advising and managing all legal aspects of the project.
Ms. Arentowicz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame and a Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law.
Ted currently oversees operations for Brookfield Residential’s California, Texas and Arizona operations.
Ted has spent the past 16 years in various executive roles for CalAtlantic Group, most recently as Western Regional President responsible for the successful performance of $2.8 billion in inventory across eight homebuilding divisions. Earlier in his 30-year career, he worked at Brookfield Homes as Vice President, Urban Development.
Ted earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Southern California.
Trent currently oversees Brookfield Residential’s Alberta operations and is passionate about building great cities and communities.
As the company has grown, Trent has taken on many roles, including Vice President of Finance with Brookfield Residential Alberta and Chief Operating Officer in Australia.
Trent gained a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Alberta in 1994, followed by his Chartered Accounting designation. He is actively involved on the boards of Calgary Economic Development, the Haskayne School of Business and Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies.
Peter oversees Brookfield Residential’s Eastern operations, which includes operations in Ontario, Canada and operations in Washington, D.C. and Colorado. He has over 30 years of experience in land and housing.
Peter joined the company in 1990 and has held various executive positions since that time. In 1998, Peter served as President in the Eastern Region and was responsible for overseeing the longer-term land and housing operations in Ontario, Canada.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alberta. He is actively involved with community charities and is a board member for the Shaw Festival Theatre Endowment Foundation in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
As Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, Warren is responsible for the company’s strategic and financial planning as well as maintaining and growing the disciplined practice around investment decisions.
Warren joined Brookfield Homes, a predecessor to Brookfield Residential, in 2009.
He is on the Advisory Council for the SickKids Innovators Program – an exclusive program that engages the next generation of philanthropists to support SickKids Foundation. Warren holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and two CPA designations, South Africa and Canada.
In his role as EVP, Chief Legal Officer and COO, Business Services, Shane provides strategic and legal oversight and is responsible for the execution of the company’s legal, transactional, governance and regulatory strategies as well as operations of the Management & Business Services group.
Shane joined the company in 2001 and has held various senior executive roles since that time.
Shane earned a law degree from the University of Toronto and a bachelor's degree in environmental studies (Urban and Regional Planning) from the University of Waterloo.
As Executive Vice President, Margaret, along with her team, is responsible for the end-to-end employee experience, learning and development, corporate communications and reputation management. She has been a proud team member since 2014.
Prior to joining the company, Margaret played senior roles with several global management consulting and communication firms in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Washington, D.C. and Calgary. She has led and delivered award-winning campaigns and programs in over 40 countries, spanning six continents.
Margaret earned her Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Calgary and is a candidate for Chartered Director (C.Dir.) at the Directors College. She currently serves on the Council of HR Executives for the Conference Board of Canada and is a member of the Governing Body for the Global and Toronto CHRO Executive Summits for Evanta, a Gartner Company.
Don oversees mixed-use operations in U.S. West, which includes our iconic development projects Fifth + Broadway in Nashville, TN and Lilia in Waikiki, HI.
In his 25 years with the company, Don has held various executive roles in land development, housing and mixed-use/redevelopment and has a proven track record in the start-up of new operational divisions in multiple cities.
Don holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
Matt oversees mixed-use operations in U.S. East, including Central Park in Denver, which is one of the top-performing master-planned communities in the U.S. He joined the company from Forest City Enterprises, where he held various positions, including Chief Development Officer overseeing large mixed-use and residential communities such as The Yards in Washington, D.C. and Pier 70 in San Francisco.
Matt holds a B.A. in finance and economics and sits on the ULI Cleveland Advisory board.
As Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer within the Development group, Jon explores innovative business development, future strategic partnership and investment opportunities for a number of groups within Brookfield Properties and the broader Brookfield Asset Management organization.
Since joining Brookfield in 2010, Jon has been involved in a range of deals including: Brookfield’s investment in Fairfield Residential, privatization of Associated Estates, Manhattan Urban Portfolio, Greenpoint Landing, Urby, niido and others, while also serving on the investment committee and board of directors of Fairfield.
Jon has 25 years of real estate and corporate finance experience and holds an MBA in finance from Fordham University and a B.A. from Muhlenberg College.
Bob is Executive of Land Investments for Brookfield Properties’ development group where he advises on the exploration of new opportunities for the land investments portfolio.
Previously, Bob was Executive Chairman of Newland and served as Chief Executive Officer. Bob is the founder and visionary behind Newland’s growth in becoming one of the largest privately-held U.S. real estate developers of mixed-use communities. Under his strategic leadership, Newland contributed to more than 140 projects, including master-planned residential communities, urban mixed-use centers, corporate headquarters, and industrial parks geographically diversified in 13 states.
Bob is a life-Trustee of the Urban Land Institute and serves on the Board of Governors of the ULI Foundation. Bob is a recipient of the Hearthstone BUILDER Humanitarian Achievement Award and was inducted into the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame. Bob was awarded the inaugural Master Plan Hall of Fame Award for his leadership, passion, and lifetime achievements in community development and placemaking.
Bob is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley.
Bob Hubbell is Brookfield Residential’s President in Washington and currently oversees the Mid-Atlantic operations for the Land and Housing division and consumer-facing Brookfield Residential brand.
Mr. Hubbell joined Brookfield Residential in 1987 as Vice President on Land Development, then Vice President of Sales and Marketing and becoming group President in 1997. Before joining Brookfield Residential, he was a partner at CPJ & Associates a Civil Engineering firm.
Bob has 40 years of experience in the Land and Housing Business and hold a BS of Engineering from Virginia Tech. He is actively involved on the boards of the Lisa Sechrist Memorial Fund, the Land Development Design Initiative at Virginia Tech Engineering School and Old Dominion National Bank.
Brad Chelton is Brookfield Residentials’ President in Texas and leads the land and housing operations for the business. In this role he is responsible for the Texas land portfolio which consist of roughly 10,000 residential lots that are actively under development in some of the most desirable Austin area submarkets. Mr Chelton is also responsible for the housing operation which delivers roughly 500-600 units per year within the land portfolio.
Mr. Chelton joined Brookfield Residential in 2014 in the Arizona division and transferred to the Texas division in 2019. He and his wife Sarah have three daughters.
Jeff McGovern is Brookfield Residentials’ President in Colorado and is responsible for leading the land and housing operations. Jeff has over 25 years of experience in new home construction in the Denver metro area and is passionate about building world-class teams who sell, build and service great homes and lots in great communities.
Jeff earned a degree in Business Management from Montana State University in Bozeman. He started his career in new home construction with Pulte Homes and has held various division leadership positions with Pulte, Lennar, and, most recently, William Lyon Homes, where he was the Division President.
Jeff has been active with the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Metro Denver since 2007, serving as President of the Metro Housing Coalition, Chair of the Storm Water Management Committee and Aurora Joint Task Force and is currently the HBA’s President-elect. In addition, Jeff has been active with the Home Builders Foundation (the philanthropic arm of the HBA) for many years--currently serving as a board member.
John Bradley is Brookfield Residentials’ President in Arizona overseeing land development operations across the region, focusing on large scale community development.
Brookfield Residential entered the Phoenix market in 2013 through a strategic joint venture to acquire the 3200 acre/8800 lot community of Eastmark, which has been consistently ranked among the top selling Master-planned Communities in the United States for a number of years. Since then, the division has added two more joint ventures and three wholly owned operations that total approximately 4,000 acres and 12,000 lots.
John has an undergraduate degree in business from Georgetown University and an MBA from Northwestern. He moved to Phoenix in 1974 with his wife Joyce and they have two kids and two grandkids- all Arizona natives.
Josh Roden is Brookfield Residentials’ President in Northern California for Land and Housing. With more than 20 years of commercial, for-sale and rental residential, retail and institutional projects, Josh is skilled at leading a diverse development and construction team.
Mr. Roden began his career with Opus Group, a commercial and mixed-use developer. As Vice President Acquisitions for Meritage Homes, Josh grew the business to a top five builder in Northern California.
Josh is on the board of the Bay Area Building Industry Association and HomeAid and holds a civil engineering degree from Marquette University, California Real Estate and Professional Engineering license and Eagle Scout.
Nicole Burdette is Brookfield Residentials’ President in Southern California for Land and Housing, overseeing homebuilding and land development operations across the region.
Nicole joined Brookfield Residential in 2000 and has held a number of roles within the business including Acquisition and Business Strategy before taking on the Southern California leadership role in 2020.
Nicole graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Arizona State University and earned an MBA from National University.
Scott Janis is Brookfield Residentials’ President in Alberta for land and housing operations. In this role, he is responsible for the leadership and oversight of both the Homes and Communities businesses in Alberta.
Sid Kerrigan is Brookfield Residentials’ President in Ontario for land and housing. Mr. Kerrigan joined Brookfield Residential in 1999 as CFO for the Ontario housing business and has been President since 2001. He is responsible for the development and execution of the business’s land and housing strategy.
During his time with Brookfield Mr. Kerrigan has played a leadership role on a management team that has achieved solid financial returns, grown the Ontario housing business to where it now delivers 400-500 new homes per year and is consistently recognized as an industry leader in terms of homebuilder brand and customer experience.
Sid holds an economics degree from the University of Toronto and is an accredited Chartered Public Accountant.
Ted oversees the Newland/NASH portfolio within Brookfield Properties’ development group. Ted has more than 40 years of master-planned community experience, having joined Newland through its 2003 acquisition of the Terrabrook portfolio with assets in Houston, Austin and Dallas.
Ted graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in insurance and did postgraduate study in accounting at the University of Houston. Ted is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the West Houston Association, where he previously served as its Chairman. He was awarded the Association’s “Impact Award” for leadership in quality sustainable development, including spearheading the Association’s “2050 Plan.”
Ted was appointed to the board of the Texas Real Estate Advisory Committee by the governor of the State of Texas in 2013, was reappointed in 2021 and continues in that capacity today. Ted proudly served his nation as a member of the US Army.
