Entertaining should be simple, casual and convenient, so we’ve gathered a few of our favorite tips to make that house warming party easy.

When we see streams of guests walking to the front door of homes, we know holiday party season is in full swing. Brookfield homes are always built with entertaining in mind—from the open, flowing home designs to the fantastic kitchens and plenty of extra space for overnight guests. Whether you’re already living in a Brookfield Residential home or still looking for your perfect spot, here are a few tips for hosting a fun, low-stress holiday party this year.

Make a List

Start with the guest list, then plan the food, drinks, decorations and entertainment. Beginning your preparation early will help you avoid frantic, last-minute scrambling. At least some of it.

Decorate from the Outside In

It could be as simple as a tasteful wreath on the front door, but you’ll want something outside the home that warmly welcomes your guests. From there, make sure there’s a little something to dress up each of the rooms where the party will take place.

Create a Reason to Roam

Give your guests an incentive to mingle and explore your home. Maybe the buffet is in the dining room, the appetizers are in the kitchen and soft music and comfy seats can be found in the family room.

Something for Everyone

Offer a nice variety of food and drinks. Balance all the high-calorie desserts with some light fruits and vegetables. And if you’re serving alcohol, be sure to have a variety of non-alcoholic options, too.

Don’t Forget to Have Fun

You want to be a make sure your guests are happy, and the first step is to enjoy the party yourself. Your guests will take their cue from you.
