2016 Best Beaches in Los Angeles and Orange County Brookfield Residential

The weather is warming up, SoCal! You’ll want to head outdoors and be close to the water soon. Take a look at the best beaches in Los Angeles and Orange County.

Dockweiler Beach in Playa del Rey is near our new home community of Playa Vista on the Westside of Los Angeles. There’s more than just water activities at this beach – you can do everything from camping in an RV to playing volleyball in the sand, fishing, go on a nature walk and more. Plus, you can watch planes take off from close by Los Angeles International Airport and bike or skate down the scenic paths.

Huntington Dog Beach in Orange County off Pacific Coast Highway is part of Surf City USA and brings furry friends together in the sand! Let your pups swim and play off leash until 10PM daily, and they’ll be sure to sleep soundly and dream of coming back for more fun in the water. There’s plenty of parking here (with a $1.50 per hour charge), and don’t worry if you forget your dog’s waste bags— this beach has a stock that’s free of charge.

Bolsa Chica State Beach is located off Pacific Coast Highway in Orange County between the narrow strip of Sunset Beach and more bustling Huntington Beach. This beach not only allows camping out in an RV but also lets visitors sit around a bonfire on the sand (can be rented between 6AM to 10PM) to enjoy each other’s company and the gorgeous view.

Leo Carrillo State Park has everything you’re looking for in a beach — swimming, surfing and a perfect place to bring your kids to see tide pools! This 1.5-mile stretch features spots for hiking and camping, and you’ll have the opportunity to explore coastal caves and reefs. Just head north on Pacific Coast Highway and this beach is less than 30 miles northwest of Santa Monica.

Zuma Beach is in Los Angeles and situated next to Malibu. Get your surfboard polished and ready for this beachy experience. You may even catch whales, dolphins and other wildlife while you’re there. Or if you’re just looking to relax under an umbrella or have a picnic on the sand, this is where you should be. There’s lots of parking here with a less than $10 per day fee.

Laguna Beach in Orange County is breathtaking! When you’re done playing in the waves, there are lots of shops and restaurants to check out too. Play a game of volleyball or basketball with your friends, discover the tide pools and tucked away coves or just catch some rays. There’s also a free weekend trolley to make sightseeing and beach going easier.

After you’re done enjoying the sea and sand, be sure to check out our new homes in Los Angeles and Orange County. We’ll be expecting you!
