Tools & Tips for Success
At Brookfield Residential, we’re interested in helping candidates know what to expect from our interview process. That’s why we’re pleased to share the following tips so you can be successful in any interview – whether with us or another company.
- Before the interview, review the job posting and practice giving a high level overview of your most relevant experience and education.
- Be prepared to recognize behavioral interview questions, which ask for a specific example from your experience (e.g. “Tell us about a time when…”)
- Practice answering these type of questions using the following format: Context, Action and Result (C.A.R.). Briefly explain the situation, the actions you took, and the outcome.
- If you need a moment to recall your best example, pause and take a sip of water!
Coming to an interview prepared with questions about the job description and the company makes a great first impression. It can also help you determine if the job is a good fit for you! Here are some examples to get you started:
- What are your expectations for this position during the first six months to a year?
- What qualities have helped other team members succeed in this position?
- What are some of the typical challenges someone in this position might encounter?
