A New Home and a Surprise Engagement

When former high school sweethearts, Tony and Sara, realized that the timing was right, they started planning for their future and began their home search. They considered their budget and long-term plans and decided that buying their first home together would be the next monumental chapter in their lives together. For six months, they searched for a new home in the Inland Empire and surrounding area. However, they weren’t finding what they had long pictured as their dream home. That is, until they visited New Haven in Ontario Ranch. Little did they know after their first serendipitous visit that this community would not only someday become home, but it would also be the location of a dreamy proposal.

It was after exploring the new Inland Empire homes at New Haven that they realized they could afford a single-family home, which was a big deal considering the other homes in the area within their price point were small condos. They fell in love with the idea of having more space and couldn’t wait to have guests over to entertain. They were attracted to the energy of the Ontario Ranch community, including the amenity-filled parks with expansive green lawns for picnicking and playing and resort-style pools where they imagined relaxing with their son.

“Ontario Ranch has a very millennial feel, which is perfect for us,” Tony explains. “We see other young couples and families who are in the same life stage as we are strolling through the neighborhood and interacting on Brookfield’s Facebook and Instagram pages.” He and Sara quickly envisioned the clubhouse as a hub for community events and a place to meet their future neighbors.

They purchased a home at Poppy, and while Sara got to work planning how she wanted to decorate their Inland Empire home as it was being built, Tony started doing some surprise planning of his own. He decided that their new home would be the perfect setting for an unforgettably romantic marriage proposal. Just days before they were set to move into the house, Tony transformed the home into the perfect backdrop for a sweet and sentimental event. He filled the house with rose petals, photos, family and friends and encouraged Sara to meet him there for one last walk-through. Little did she know what was awaiting her when she opened the front door.

“When I walked in, I was shocked!” Sara says. “The most memorable part was when I saw Tony standing at the end of a rose petal aisle.” It was no question that she said yes.

They celebrated well into the evening, surrounded by loved ones and experiencing for the first time what it was like to host a party in their new home. With their 10-year anniversary of being together in late November – and the wedding planning to come – we have a feeling that this won’t be the last celebration in the family’s new home at New Haven in Ontario Ranch. Congrats and welcome to the Brookfield Residential family!
