Hike along beautiful mountain scenery at Palomar State Park. An 8.8-mile trek will lead you to an old fire lookout, a gorgeous fishing pond, forest growth, meadows and wildlife. Plentiful shade helps you stay cool while you make your way up a 1,250-foot elevation gain. The path leads to the top of the peak where stunning views of the mountainous area can be viewed. Shorter variations of this hike are available.
Take a day trip to Lake Elisnore for some lakeside fun. Fishing, wakeboarding, water skiing, windsurfing and paddleboarding are just some of the ways you can get out onto the water. Kick your adrenaline up by skydiving, hang gliding or mountain biking. Catch a professional baseball game at the local stadium. Make a full weekend out of it by camping in the many shaded areas around the lake.
Head out to Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve, located near our homes in Murrieta, for some beautiful ecological sights. Walk around wetlands, coastal sage scrub, oak woodlands and rare animal species. Choose from easy to more difficult trails that range from two to eight miles. Horseback riding is welcomed. Hikers all note hiking during spring is one of the most beautiful times to go since vibrant poppies fill the green fields.
See nature from above at Skull Canyon Zipline. Beginners and experts can find their preferred courses through the Original Course or Extreme Course option. The Original Course zips you 80-feet in the air on six different courses. The alternative course includes a 30-minute hike with faster and longer lines, including a line where you can race with your friends.
